I recently traveled to the Oregon Coast for Spring break and I found some fun treasures in the antique shops in several towns along the coast.
This darling duck is a cotton ball dispenser
Look where the cotton comes out!
I love this darling pixie that I found in Cannon Beach at a fun little antique shop called The Butler Did it
I found two pixie planters
Just look at this funny clown pixie with a chick
I love the crabs! The shopkeeper told me she found them in Texas
This cheery tulip vase will look great in my kitchen
I love this little restaurant-ware cup and the vintage tablecloth too
I plan to hang both of these Johnson Brother's red transfer-ware saucers in my bedroom

I love the feeling of stepping into a thrift store and finding a treasure amongst the junk! Mermaid Shelley and I took part of an afternoon on a weekday and popped into a couple of junk stores - and I mean junk! As I was fighting that grossed-out feeling at the smell of the cigarette smoke, the high prices, and bad stuff... I spied a shelf full of little figurines. Most of them were bad, but I just new a little treasure or two was waiting for me to come to the rescue!
I collect pixies. I love them. These funny little guys had been broken and repaired, but were the only reasonably priced things in the whole store. Aren't they cute? They were $1.00 each. They are so happy in their new home, surrounded by friends and the delicious scents of candles and good old home-cookin.
And here they are playing together. Don't they look happy?!

I got this candle a couple of months ago in anticipation of using it this time of year when I needed a boost and a hint of spring. It's lucious lemon scent it heavenly! You can get one too at Simply Northwest.

I bought this tray during the Christmas season at one of my farvorite stores in the Spokane area. ~The Trellis Marketplace~ You may have seen it in various pictures and posts of mine. I love it! I am keeping it up on my kitchen counter year-round. I put vintage Valentine's on it during the month of February and will change it out with the seasons or various holidays. It is metal, so magnets work perfectly! The little card on it now says, "Coffee induces wit." ~Gustav Flaubert

My Grandma Val gave me this pretty covered glass dish. She was so pleased to give it to me because it was her mother's. Grandma knows how much I treasure items that were personal and special to my family. My great grandmother used to keep her earrings and such in it. I now keep small jewelry items in it, too. It sits on my dresser and I see it every morning when I get ready for the day. I love it because it's pretty and because it was precious to my Grandma and to her mother.

My husband's grandmother gave this to me. I had asked each of my daughter's four great grandmothers to pick an item that was personal, as well as special, for keepsakes. I loved that Grandma Reece picked this beautiful English teapot. She used it for special occasions and thought Sarah would appreciate it some day. I know I do and it will be tough giving it up when that day comes!

This cheery, sunny-orange purse was waiting for me to come around the corner at T.J. Max. Oh, and the price was right! It has lifted my gray- cloudy-day, Eastern Washington- winter spirits!

I found this glass hurricane bowl for a steal at Real Deals in Spokane Valley. I bought the pears on display in the bowl as well and added my own faux red berries and star ornament. It is a simple, clean decor item on the coffee table in my formal living room.
This monkey clock is so whimsical that I had to pick it up at Olive Branch Home Decor in Spokane Valley. It was about $30 and has a little monkey reaching for a star on the top.

I found this wonderful, old, orange-red coffee pot at the Farm Chicks sale a couple of years ago. I love it! It sits on my kitchen windowsill. The Farm Chicks sale is an antique, girl energy, vintage-lover dream come true. We Mermaids go every year and make a day of it. Check here for photos of last year's event on our website.

I found these awesome snack trays a couple of weeks ago in a junky little thrift store. I love them! They are so cool and vintage and kinda tacky! Notice what the little pink and black designs look like! Anyone? I can't wait to use them.

My almost 95 year-old Grandma Mila gave me this beautiful set of dishes last week. I feel incredibly blessed to have had such amazing female role models in my life; my mom, two grandmas, a great aunt that was like my grandma, and more.
Grandma knows me well. She knows of my passion for entertaining family and friends, cooking and setting a beautiful table, and she has passed many of her gorgeous dishes and glassware on to me. After suffering a heart attack this fall, she had to go to a nursing home. We were so sad and worried. But, Grandma rallied! She is now back home. I visited her there last week; took food for her freezer and relished spending time with her.
These dishes were special to Grandma; a gift from a dear friend. I will cherish them as I use them and always think of Grandma.

Another treasure from my Grandma. This was her salad bowl. I love it! It brings back such yummy memories. I love to make salads, and my Grandma was my inspiration for gorgeous, hearty salads.

A couple of weeks ago I snuck off by myself to one of my favorite antique stores in our area. It is in Post Falls, Idaho (Northern Idaho) It is called My Favorite Things and I really have found some of my most "favorite things" there. I love to peruse the aisles slowly and closely examine each booth. Here is what I found!
I have a small collection of deer that I put out in my living room during the holidays. Perfect! Look at the fluffs of hair on those two!
This sweet little compote was under $5. I couldn't pass that up. I may use it for candy, or as a serving bowl, or maybe even put it on my dresser-top and fill it with baubles!
I also have a collection of vintage Santas. I fill my kitchen with vintage Santas, elves, and pixies during the holidays. This darling Santa and Mrs. Claus salt and pepper are perfect; and at under $5... had to be mine!
I saved the best for last! I have a love for red-tranferware dishes. I just love the color red. It makes me feel happy and energetic! Check out this perfect Yellowstone National Park souvenior plate featuring Old Faithful. My family visitited Old Faithful two summers ago and it was beautiful.

I love Fleur de lis. My dear friend Debbie knows this. Whenever one of her friends has a fun collection, Debbie does her best to contribute. She gave me this amazing glitter covered Fleur de lis as a Christmas gift. She found it at one of her favorite stores, The Trellis Marketplace. She was so tickled when I oohed and ahhhed as I opened the gift bag it came in. I love it and hung it above my sink in the vanity. Deb, you rock!
Another wonderful gift I received are these amazing old library books. My dear friend Stacey got them at a book auction on Aquidmick Island, Rhode Island, a fundraiser for the Newport Library, the oldest library in the U.S. Not only is it so cool to have a gift to add to my collection of old books, but they are precious because my dear friend remembered what I love!

Finding a treasure at a yard sale, at an antique shop or in a second-hand is one of the things that thrills me! This wonderful pair of panels are probably from the 1950's. They are kind of unusual in color, but they fit perfectly with my bedroom decor. I picked them up at The Vintage Rabbit Antique Mall in Spokane for about $17. I think they were a great find!
I found this Shabby Chic shelf at the Farm Chicks Antique Show last spring. Looks pretty cute above the "throne" in my bath. I filled the shelves with a few treasures (yes, that's a picture of me when I was about three years old!).
I love this! The white chrysanthemums in the bamboo frame fit perfectly in my bedroom. This little treasure was hidden away in the basement of Finders Keepers antique store. I think it was all of $15!

There was a package in my mailbox yesterday. I thought to myself, "Huh, who could that be from? It's not Christmas or my birthday." Then I noticed, written in black marker, the words: Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday! What a surprise and what fun! My wonderful friend since childhood, Stephanie, had sent me a box full of goodies. I was thrilled with each and every one. It was my late Christmas, early birthday present. (My birthday is in June)
Thanks Steph!!!
I love vintage stuff. I love vintage holiday stuff the most. I love pixies. They fill me with joy, laughter, glee, mirth, nostalgia, and happiness. (Get the picture?) Steph came through for me again and I am happy.
Look at theses two darling pixies posing so sweetly in front of my awesome red tray of vintage Vallentines
These are two tiny pixie ornaments on top of a great vintage pixie towel
This is just the coolest Christmas issue of the Ideals Magazine, circa 1966
Stephanie also knows that I have a fondness for martinis and for entertaining family and friends. These cocktail napkins will be fun to pull out for next year's holiday gatherings

I fell in love with these darling Fuzzy Nation pooch purses a year ago during the holidays. Macy's was selling them for $65 each. They had a variety of breeds to choose from and different patterned fabric. I bought my daughter a Boston Terrier last year, but resisted spending that much on a purse that would hold my lipstick and credit card only. Imagine my thrill at finding one darling pug left on the clearance table. It had been marked down to $25 and an extra 30% off of that! Yeah! It is hanging out in my studio/office now, and it's colors match perfectly!
